Killing bigotry

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. ~ Mark Twain

My brother recently tweeted that 2/3 of Americans don’t have a passport. I don’t know where he came up with that little tidbit, but dang, what a depressing statistic. Perhaps that helps explain why in 2012 we are still dealing with so much narrow-mindedness in our world-view. Maybe it helps explain why the current Republican presidential candidates are tripping over themselves to pander to the most extreme and ignorant around us. Maybe it’s time for a giant field trip. Come on people! Turn off the TV for a minute! Quit letting the psychobabble that dominates cable TV define your world. Get up off your fat ass and start exploring outside of your own neighborhood! Who knows, you might just find a whole new and amazing world out there!

Tonight I’d like to raise a glass (a rather delightful Merlot from half a world a-way) to evolving through travel! Cheers y’all!
